The Harsh Inner Critic
Have you had the phrase "practice makes perfect" drilled in your head for so long that now you *actually* expect perfection of yourself?
You're good at being generous with teammates when they make a mistake. "Shake it off. Get back in the game. You've got this," you tell them, but when it comes to your own mistakes there's no room for generosity or encouragement.
Instead, your thoughts slide right into, "What's wrong with you? How could you have missed that? Mistakes like that cost big. You better get it together or you're gonna be the reason we take an L today."
Somewhere inside you know that beating yourself up is hurting (not helping), but you're also worried that if you let go of that harsh inner-coach, you'll let your personal standard slip.
I can help you shift that inner voice away from being a cruel perfectionist and towards a generous encourager - ultimately making you more successful at your sport, not less.
